Delhi shines in national school performance index, but enrolment and retention gaps remain

Delhi has secured a place among the country's better-performing States and Union Territories in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2025-26. While the capital performed strongly across key education indicators, the assessment highlighted declining enrolment at the foundational stage and lower secondary-level retention, signalling the need for focused efforts to strengthen early schooling and keep students engaged through higher classes.
