RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties ranging between 15.8 percent and 38.7 percent on imports of aluminum easy-open caps for beverage cans originating from China. The definitive anti-dumping duties for a period of five years came into effect on Tuesday, Oct. 13. This was part of the efforts to safeguard domestic industry and ensure fair competition in the local market. Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi has issued the decision imposing the duties on the product concerned, which covers aluminum easy-open caps with diameters ranging from 50 to 63 millimeters. The decision and the accompanying public announcement were published in the Umm Al-Qura Gazette on October 12. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority will be responsible for implementing and collecting the duties on the covered imports. The anti-dumping duty rates have been fixed based on the final findings of the investigation conducted by the authority into the product concerned. The measures follow an investigation launched on Sept. 30, 2025, in response to a complaint filed by the local industry. The investigation concluded that definitive measures were warranted in accordance with the provisions of the International Trade Remedies Law and its implementing regulations. The authority affirmed that these measures form part of its mandate to protect local producers from the adverse effects of dumping and other unfair trade practices. They are intended to strengthen the competitiveness of national sectors, contribute to the development of the Saudi economy, and enhance the Kingdom’s gains in international trade.
