The investigation into the POCSO cases against businessman R Veeramani has widened, and is raising serious questions now about how the Chennai police handled complaints against him. While the SIT continues to share details about private individuals arrested in the case, the Chennai police appear reluctant to disclose details of the inquiry involving its own officers. With no detailed public statement on the questioning of former Chennai Police Commissioner A Arun and former Additional Commissioner (South) N Kannan, questions remain over the transparency of the probe into the police department’s handling of the case. In this week's episode of Yen Endra Kelvi, Shabbir Ahmed examines the latest developments in the Veeramani POCSO case, the questions surrounding the police investigation, and the need for accountability when allegations of serious crimes involve those entitled to enforce the law.
